Domain Scoring Standards

1. Relevance

  • Brand Fit: The domain should closely align with the brand’s core message and industry.
  • Context: It should convey the brand's purpose or niche at a glance, making it easy for users to understand the site's content or service.

Scoring standard

  • 10: Domain perfectly reflects intended content or business, highly relevant to target audience, perfectly aligns with brand or purpose.
  • 8-9: Domain mostly reflects intended content or business, relevant to target audience, generally aligns with brand or purpose.
  • 6-7: Domain somewhat reflects intended content or business, has some relevance to target audience, partially aligns with brand or purpose.
  • 4-5: Domain slightly reflects intended content or business, weak relevance to target audience, slightly aligns with brand or purpose.
  • 1-3: Domain does not reflect intended content or business, not relevant to target audience, does not align with brand or purpose.

2. Brandability

  • Uniqueness: The domain should be distinctive and stand out from competitors.
  • Memorability: The domain should be easy to remember and recall.
  • Pronunciation & Spelling: It should be easy to pronounce and spell, avoiding complex or ambiguous words.
  • Relevance to Brand Identity: The domain should align with the brand’s identity and evoke the desired associations.

Scoring standard

  • 10: Domain is highly brandable, unique, easy to remember, and perfectly aligned with brand identity.
  • 8-9: Domain is brandable, unique, and memorable, with a good fit for brand identity.
  • 6-7: Domain is somewhat brandable, somewhat unique, and memorable, with a moderate fit for brand identity.
  • 4-5: Domain is less brandable, somewhat generic, less memorable, with a weak fit for brand identity.
  • 1-3: Domain is not brandable, very generic, difficult to remember, with little to no fit for brand identity.

3. User Trustworthiness

  • Security (HTTPS): The domain should ideally support HTTPS, which is a standard for secure communication and user trust.
  • Established TLD: Use of a recognized TLD (e.g., .com, .org) that conveys legitimacy and professionalism.
  • Lack of Negative History: The domain should be free from any past associations with spam or malicious activities.

Scoring standard

  • 10: Domain sounds highly professional and credible, avoids spammy or misleading words, uses TLD with a great reputation.
  • 8-9: Domain sounds professional and credible, avoids spammy or misleading words, uses TLD with good reputation.
  • 6-7: Domain sounds fairly professional, avoids spammy or misleading words, uses TLD with moderate reputation.
  • 4-5: Domain includes some unprofessional or misleading words, uses TLD with moderate reputation.
  • 1-3: Domain includes obvious spammy or misleading words, uses TLD with poor or unknown reputation.

4. SEO Friendliness

  • Keyword Presence: The domain should contain relevant keywords that can boost search engine rankings.
  • Domain Length: Shorter domains are generally more effective for SEO.
  • Avoiding Numbers & Hyphens: These elements can complicate SEO and user experience, so should be avoided.

Scoring standard

  • 10: Domain length is within 6 characters, includes keywords, no special characters or numbers, uses well-recognized TLD (e.g., .com, .org).
  • 8-9: Domain length is 7-10 characters, includes keywords, no special characters or numbers, uses fairly recognized TLD (e.g., .net, .co).
  • 6-7: Domain length is 11-15 characters, includes keywords, no special characters or numbers, uses general TLD (e.g., .info, .biz).
  • 4-5: Domain length is more than 15 characters, includes keywords, no special characters or numbers, uses general TLD.
  • 1-3: Domain includes special characters or numbers, does not include keywords, uses less known TLD (e.g., .xyz, .club).

5. Simplicity

  • Domain Length: Short domains generally score higher, with a recommendation of no more than 15 characters.
  • Ease of Spelling: Is the domain easy to spell and remember?
  • No Special Characters: The domain should not contain special characters (e.g., hyphens) or numbers.

Scoring standard

  • 10: Domain is very simple, easy to pronounce and spell, no complex or confusing structure.
  • 8-9: Domain is fairly simple, easy to pronounce and spell, clear structure.
  • 6-7: Domain is simple, slightly complex but still easy to pronounce and spell.
  • 4-5: Domain is somewhat complex, not very easy to pronounce and spell.
  • 1-3: Domain is very complex, difficult to pronounce and spell, confusing structure.
